Create inviting spaces with Ashley’s free design seminar March 19 & 20

(March 6, 2008) – On Wednesday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Appleton will host Furniture Arrangement – Building Around Your Focal Point for Maximum Enjoyment, a free design seminar open to the public. This seminar will repeat in the Green Bay Ashley Furniture HomeStore on Thursday, March 20 at 7:00 p.m.

Presented by Sandra Dahlke, visual merchandise manager & accessory buyer for the eastern Wisconsin Ashley Furniture HomeStores, this interactive evening will begin with a 30-minute seminar followed by hands-on demonstrations and one-on-one design consultations from Ashley’s professional design team. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs of their living rooms and bedrooms to share with the design professionals.

“Furniture arrangement is number one in creating an inviting and comfortable space,” explains Dahlke. “If your room has too much furniture, the traffic flow is limited leaving you feeling cramped. Conversely, if the room has too little furniture or items are widely spread, it will convey a vacant feeling with no warmth or intimacy. Creating the right balance and arrangement is crucial to a successful space. We’ll teach you how to do this.”

In addition to one-on-one design consultations, participants can expect to learn how to select a focal point based on their style, new ways to use old accessories in defining space, creating optimal traffic flow through multiple arrangements and more.

“With the size of rooms increasing, it is necessary to create two to three different areas within the same room in order to be visually appealing and comfortable for the entire family,” Dahlke adds. “This means pulling your furniture off the walls and working with different angles to achieve a look and feel that is both functional and visually appealing. The days of lining up your furniture along the walls are over!”

Each month, Ashley will feature a new design seminar from local experts on topics requested by HomeStore Guests including color selection, faux painting, furniture arrangement, decorating for the holidays, converting your empty nest bedroom into a home office and more. There is no cost to attend these seminars, but space is limited. Refreshments will be served.

To register, call Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Green Bay (920.965.6640) or Appleton (920.968.0013). Mark your calendar for April’s seminar entitled Finding Your Personal Design Style, to be held April 23 in Appleton and April 24 in Green Bay.
